Home Alarm Systems

John Mccreary asked:

Everyone knows the tradition of making New Year’s Resolutions. We all make plans for improving ourselves; but no matter how great our intentions, we more than likely will fall short of our goals. Most of these plans are for worthy, but perhaps a bit superficial ideals like losing weight, becoming organized or learning a new language. There is one resolution, however, that can make a real difference in the safety of your family: assessing your Houston home security. Installing a home alarm in your Houston home may mean protecting your property and your loved ones against dangerous intruders. A security systems company in Houston should be able to help you plan out the following steps towards reaching a goal of a safer home in the new year:

1.Do your own safety assessment. It doesn’t take a professional to notice aspects of your property that could use more attention to security. Do you have bushes that hide your doors and windows? Are your exterior doors solid? Do all of your windows lock? Is your property well-lighted? Some of these problems can be addressed on your own, prior to contacting a Houston home alarm company. Once the security professionals come to your home, they may also have additional suggestions for improving the security of the property.

2.Contact a Houston home security firm. Your next New Year’s Resolution should be to develop a business relationship with a Houston security systems company, preferably a firm that has a solid history of customer satisfaction. Let the staff at that company know that you are looking to make some real changes to your home’s security and that you are open to learning about all of the products and services they have to offer. Do not hesitate to let them know exactly what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend on your Houston home alarm. A quality company should provide such benefits as free professional installation and additional alarm keypads.

3.Invest in a monitored alarm system. Your home’s alarm is only as good as the quality of the monitoring. It is best to look for a company that provides round the clock monitoring at a monthly rate, because you don’t want to have gaps in your coverage. Ask your alarm company if they also offer such security features as fire monitoring, because the convenience of adding that to your system makes it worthwhile to do so. Finally, do due diligence in your research as you locate a Houston home security that offers you as much value as it does quality.

Safeguard Home Security offers our customers excellent customer service by experienced, licensed home alarm professionals. Our management team has been serving Greater Houston for over thirty years, and we are ready to help you keep your New Year’s Resolution for a more secure home. Call us today at (800) 785-6488.

Video Surveillance Camera for the Home

Mariam Ma asked:

You are living the dream life. You have a beautiful home with the white picket fence, a perfect partner and the two point five kids. However, something just doesn’t seem right and you don’t know what it is. You have a nagging feeling in the back of your head and you’re struggling with the possibility of installing a video surveillance camera. Should you do it? The answer is, you deserve to know the honest truth. If nothing is going on, then no harm, no foul.

The great thing about video surveillance cameras nowadays is that with the technology advancements, they are very hard to detect. Hidden cameras have been miniaturized with even bigger disk capacity. There is also no need to hide the tell-tale mass of wires. You can get small wireless cameras that will fit into everyday objects such as clocks, smoke detectors or tv stands.

After you have found a place to put your wireless camera, you can choose to view the recording by broadcasting it over the Internet. You can view the broadcast in real time via a web browser accessible to you only with a password of your choosing. Or you may wish to play the recording at your leisure at a later time. Whichever method you decide, you can now get the real answers that you have been seeking with proof.

Hidden cameras can put to rest any questions you have if you suspect your partner is cheating on you. Or perhaps you want to monitor if the nanny you just hired is just as good as her resume indicates. You can never be too careful nowadays with all the horror stories of baby abuse at the hands of their nannies. You don’t want your baby to be the next headline news story.

Further to using hidden cameras to keep an eye on the activities of your partner or the hired help, a camera can serve for safety purposes as well. It’s not only the welfare of babies that need monitoring but the elderly as well. A video camera set on secure Internet broadcast can be set up to monitor elderly parents who want to maintain their independence by living at home. For their kids, there’s comfort in knowing that they can keep an eye on the daily activities of their parents in case a fall or some other type of accident occurs.

The use of video cameras whether they be hidden or out in the open can be a great tool to settle your peace of mind. Used for the right circumstances video monitoring can protect the best interest of your family.

Big Brother Is Watching You – All About Surveillance Cameras

small surveillance cameras
Bob Carper asked:

In 1950 while I was a senior in Good Old Franklin High in Rochester NY, our honors English class received a book report assignment. It was a shock. We were to read and comment on the novel Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell. In his writings, Orwell contributed many words to the English vocabulary. In Nineteen Eighty Four, the term “Big Brother Is Watching You” became the very symbolism of a giant super state watching endlessly over the prole or the little guy.

Over fifty years have passed since I did that book report. The year 1984 has come and gone. The Cold War is no longer. We do not have super states like Oceania. George Orwell could not in his wildest essays ever dreamed up a creation like the internet. But Orwell’s creation is very evident and is with every one of us, no matter what country we live in. Here is an insight into everything we have ever wanted to know about hidden surveillance cameras

Today, hidden surveillance cameras are more common around the world than most of us realize. They can be found in banks, bus stops, department stores,7-11s, fast food restaurants, homes, and ATM machines. They are on almost every continent. These cameras were initially fed into video recording devices. Now they are monitored by real life security personnel and are channeled through the internet in order to deter crimes and rapidly identify offenders. The chances are fairly certain that if you’ve been in any gambling casino in the modern world that you have been carefully scrutinized on surveillance cameras As for government, if you have been in any office of federal, state, or local government, a hidden surveillance camera has captured your image.

Surveillance cameras are so small they do not take up a lot of space. When in place, they are not obvious. They are quite affordable when compared to other security methods. Surveillance cameras are effective in small ‘mom and pop’ type stores and restaurants. However, they are not a crime deterrent. They can only be used as evidence after the fact. They can provide valuable evidence to law enforcement, but they cannot stop the crime from happening.

To deter crimes, surveillance cameras must be used in conjunction with a law enforcement unit or a manned security patrol. In stores, cameras are mounted in “chrome domes” in the ceiling or else may sit behind store decorations. Do not be shocked if one of Santa Claus’s reindeer might be housing a surveillance camera. After all, the Christmas season sees shop lifting at peak levels.

Surveillance cameras may make you the unwitting star of the latest and greatest porno flick. Pornographic webmasters have installed webcams in every conceivable place where they can photograph people that think they have privacy. No hiding place is even close. They have set up webcams in rest rooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and most of all, motel rooms. Not only is Big Brother watching you, but the rest of the internet world is watching you as well. A long time favorite TV show used the expresson, “Smile ..You’re on Candid Camera ! How true.

There are however, a few drawbacks you should know about when considering a small, hidden, surveillance camera as part of a home or business security plan. Be aware that these cameras offer a very narrow or limited field of view. If these cameras are being used to identify perpetrators of a crime,a defense attorney in a court of law could easily establish reasonable doubt unless the defendant is well within the camera’s field of vision. Also, these webcams are very small and do not necessarily offer the best quality and highest resolution when it comes to photographs.

If you are hoping to catch employees, nannies, and housekeepers in the act of stealing from you or abusing their authorities and privileges, then a hidden surveillance camera is an excellent choice. The same holds true for customers who would steal as well. These cameras can quite often be valuable tools in identifying those who transgress against you. However, the hidden nature of surveillance cameras really prevents them from being an effective crime deterrent and this should be carefully considered before relying on them as a sole means of defense or security for your home and/or business.

Here is another expression that George Orwell may not have thought about. It is, “Only The Attorneys Win.” Surveillance cameras must furnish the evidence to obtain a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt. It is too easy for even a novice defense attorney to have a case thrown out of court based on surveillance camera evidence. The surveillance cameras mounted on light poles to catch you driving aggressively or running a red light or speeding may be susceptible to challenge.

The bottom line is simple enough. Get a good attorney. He or she just might be clever enough to outwit Big Brother.

Small Surveillance Cameras

Brooke Coin asked:

Video surveillance cameras in the form of closed circuit television were first used in 1942 in Germany. It was first installed by German engineer of Siemens AG at Test Stand VII to monitor any cause of malfunction or problems from V-2 rocket launches. Some surveillance cameras are installed directly on the rockets to monitor the different stages of the launch and it uses radio transmission to transmit back to base the video images.

Today the technology of video surveillance cameras is used for different purposes. It can be for crime prevention, industrial observation or traffic watch. They can be installed anywhere and everywhere like banks, casinos, offices, airports, government buildings and other locations which need vital protection. Video surveillance cameras are invaluable tools to post crisis and post crime investigations as it was proven by the July 7 London Underground attacks wherein a close circuit television video surveillance camera was able to capture the picture of a suspect in the attack. Because of its usefulness, governments opt to use them more in public places in order to prevent more crimes. In the United Kingdom, they have one camera for every 14 people. The United States is starting to do the same however it is smudged in debates and controversies.

There are those who are for the use of video surveillance cameras in public places in order to prevent crime. On the other hand there are those who oppose it because they say it violates the rights of every citizen for privacy and it violates the Fourth Amendment which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. For those who support the use of video surveillance cameras they say that the need for public safety weighs more compared to the need for privacy. However, for those who would want to protect themselves it is now easy to purchase a video surveillance system for small offices or even homes.

Home surveillance cameras are actually hot commodities today due to the rise of security concerns especially in the United States after the cowardly terrorist attacks in September 11 of 2001. There are different home video surveillance cameras for the consumers interested in protecting their love ones and property.

There are wired surveillance cameras for permanent installation. These cameras cannot be relocated and are useful for important locations. These surveillance cameras however need professional help in order to be installed. Then there are wireless surveillance cameras which are the exact opposite of the wires cameras. Wireless video surveillance cameras do not need any professional to install and almost anyone can do it. These cameras can also be relocated anytime and anywhere so that it can cover every inch of the property. This can transmit either to television or computer systems. Then there are the spy or covert surveillance cameras. These are very popular since it can be hidden almost anywhere. From wall clocks to ornaments in the house, these small cameras can be placed anywhere and away from anyone’s view so that they do not know they are being watched.
